Dan DePalma (* 21 July 1989 in Verona , New Jersey ) is a former American American football - and Canadian football poker players on the position of wide receiver . He played one season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League (CFL) after being under contract with various franchises of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at West Chester University .

Career

college

After attending Verona High School , where DePalma was running back , he started playing college football at Shepherd University in 2007 . He was used in eleven games, catching two passes for 22 yards . He also scored eight tackles in the special teams . In 2008 he transferred to West Chester University . There he played in defense in 2008 , where he scored 23 tackles and four interceptions . He brought an interception over 40 yards for a touchdown, another over 96 yards to the opposing 4-yard line. He was also the leading punt returner of his conference as he returned 14 punts for an average of 18.3 yards. In the championship game defeat, he also managed a 76-yard punt return touchdown for the Golden Rams .

In 2009 he switched back to the position of wide receiver. He played in all eleven games, including seven from the start. He caught 45 passes for 832 yards, leading the team. In total, he scored ten touchdowns, nine by catch and one by the run. In his senior year, he caught 50 passes for 962 yards and nine touchdowns.

Professional career

On June 27, 2011 DePalma was signed by the New York Jets as an Undrafted Free Agent. He was released on September 3, 2011. On September 6, 2011, he signed a contract with the New York Giants , which was extended on February 8, 2012. He was released on August 31, 2012, but signed back under contract on November 22, 2012. On April 8, 2013, the San Diego Chargers signed DePalma. In August 2013, DePalma sustained a shoulder injury, after which he was placed on the injured reserve list . He agreed with the Chargers on injury compensation and was released before the start of the regular season. On November 25, 2013, the Chargers signed up DePalma for their Practice Squad . He stayed there for the rest of the season.

In June 2014, he signed a contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was released on June 20, 2014, but signed up for the practice roster two days later. At the end of July 2014 he made his debut in the CFL. In the 2014 season, he only played three games for the Roughriders, catching six passes for 161 yards and one touchdown . After the season he became a free agent .

style

DePalma is considered a good pass route runner with safe hands. Cornerback Corey Webster called him before the Super Bowl XLVI as the most difficult to cover wide receiver of the Giants. Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell was positive about DePalma ahead of Super Bowl XLVI, calling him the team's fastest and hardest-working wide receiver.
