Dietrich Oltmanns

Dietrich Oltmanns (* 1956 in Leipzig ) is a German photographer .

Life

Dietrich Oltmanns was born in Leipzig in 1956 and, after graduating from high school, did his military service from 1976 to 1981. He then studied cybernetics at the TH Ilmenau , where he completed his diploma . At the same time he learned photography as an autodidact .

After two years of industrial activity in Leipzig, Oltmanns decided in 1983 to work as a freelance photographer.

From 1987 to 1990 he was co-editor and producer of the informal magazine "Second Person".

A year later, the Oltmanns moved to Berlin and began his artistic collaboration with Maria Luise Faber.

In 1994 he was able to receive a grant from the Kulturfonds Foundation and in 1995 a residence grant from the state of Saxony-Anhalt in Dessau .

In 2002 Oltmanns took part in a scholarship at the Kunstverein Röderhof and in 2008 received a scholarship at the Künstlerhaus Ahrenshoop . The latter was funded by the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

In 2010 he received a scholarship from NOMOS , Glashütte.

Dietrich Oltmanns lives and works in Berlin and Lindenbrück / Teltow-Fläming.
