Dietrich Schuberth (born August 21, 1931 in Danzig - Langfuhr ) is a German church musician and Protestant theologian.

Life

He is the son of the pastor Lic. Theol. Johannes Schuberth and Ilse Schuberth born Horn.

He attended schools in Danzig , Oldenburg in Holstein and Rendsburg . In 1951 he graduated from high school. This was followed by studying church and school music in Hamburg from 1951 to 1957, and theology from 1958 to 1963. The doctorate in theology followed in 1964 . From 1952 to 1977 he was a church musician in Hamburg / St.Marien. From 1977 to 1996 he worked as regional church music director of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau ; until 1993 director of the church music school in Frankfurt am Main, then until 2001 lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt.

From 1973 to 1979 and 1989 to 1996 Schuberth was President of the Conference of Heads of Church and State Training Centers for Church Music and Regional Church Music Directors in the Evangelical Church in Germany . From 1997 to 1999 he was a substitute professor at the theological faculty of the University of Erlangen as director of the institute for church music and university music director. He was also a member of the European Conference for Protestant Church Music, the International Working Group on Hymnology and the Scientific Society for Theology .
