Digital 5 is a radio consortium that originally consisted of five large German private radio broadcasters. Its five founding members Radio / Tele FFH , Antenne Bayern , Antenne Niedersachsen , radio ffn and Radio Hamburg reach 14 million listeners a day. It was founded in autumn 2006 as a provider association of the broadcasters Radio / Tele FFH (Hessen), Antenne Bayern, Hit-Radio Antenne Niedersachsen and radio ffn. Radio Hamburg was added in spring 2007.

The first joint venture was the development of a broad range of web radio services across channels in spring 2007. In autumn 2007, the company applied as a content provider for the DVB-H standard that was being set up, which will enable terrestrial television and radio via mobile phones across Germany from summer 2008 had been received. In December 2007, Digital 5 was awarded the contract and the license for the first national radio program focusing on comedy and karaoke in DVB-H standard via the Mobile 3.0 platform. This station started under the name MyFun Radio on June 12, 2008.

On January 23, 2008, the community of providers became a joint company: Digital 5 was founded as a GmbH & Co. KG based in Bad Vilbel . The managing directors are Kai Fischer and Hans-Dieter Hillmoth, the chairman of the shareholders' meeting is Karlheinz Hörhammer.

In April 2008 the group of shareholders was expanded to include radio NRW and, in August 2008, to Antenne Thuringia , BCS Broadcast Sachsen GmbH & Co. KG ( HITRADIO RTL Sachsen , Sachsen Funkpaket ), RCB Radio Center Berlin GmbH ( 104.6 RTL , 105'5 Spreeradio ) and of VMG Verlags- und Mediengesellschaft mbH & Co. KG ( radio SAW ). Thus, 10 shareholders are now involved in Digital 5.
