Dillmanstown is a small settlement in the West Coast regionon the South Island of New Zealand .
Origin of name
The settlement was named after the former shopkeeper.
geography
The settlement is located 23 km south of Greymouth and 9 km southeast of Kumara Junction directly on New Zealand State Highway 73 between Kumara and Turiwhate . Dillmanstown is southwest of the Taramakau River .
history
After gold was found in the region in 1876, over 3000 prospectors came. The spoil heaps that can still be found today bear witness to them and gold mining.
