Dillon [ ˈdɪlən ] is a municipality in the US state of Colorado and is located about 100 km west of Denver on the Dillon Reservoir named after it .
history
The original place ( Old Dillon ) was founded in the 19th century in a valley where three rivers meet. To secure Denver's water supply, a dam was built and the valley was flooded in 1963 , creating the Dillon Reservoir (also called Lake Dillon ). During this time the city was rebuilt northeast of the old location. Some of the buildings were moved as a whole and are now located in nearby Silverthorne.
