Dimitar Slatanow ( Bulgarian Димитър Златанов , English transcription: Dimitar Zlatanov ; born November 9, 1948 in Ichtiman ) is a former Bulgarian volleyball player and coach.

Career

Slatanov took part in the Olympic Games three times with the Bulgarian national team. He finished sixth in Mexico in 1968 , fourth in Munich in 1972 and won the silver medal in Moscow in 1980 . In addition, Slatanow played four times at world and European championships and was runner- up in 1970 . With his club CSKA Sofia he was Bulgarian champion eight times and won the European Cup in 1969 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1976 . With Klippan Turin he was Italian champion in 1981 and reached the final in the European Cup a year later .

After his playing days, Slatanow was a coach at CSKA Sofia and various Italian clubs. In 2007 he was the first Bulgarian to be inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame .
