Career

Afanasenko, who started for SC Minsk , made his international debut on November 28, 1999 as part of the Ski Jumping World Cup in Kuopio, Finland . After jumping far behind the world's best with rank 74, however, he withdrew from international competitions for three more years. In December 2002 he started in Engelberg in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup , but again fell short of expectations as 51st. Shortly afterwards, Afanasenko started at the Winter Universiade 2003 in Tarvisio , whose ski jumping competitions had to be relocated to Planica in Slovenia due to lack of snow . he reached 33rd place on the normal hill and 20th place on the large hill. With the team he was ninth after the team competition.

A month later he was part of the team at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2003 in the Italian Val di Fiemme . After he could not qualify for the two individual competitions, he reached 12th place with the team in the team competition. From August 2003 Afanasenko was a permanent member of the team in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup. However, points were not achieved. In January 2004 he achieved his best result to date with rank 38 in Brotterode . At the ski flying world championship 2004 in Planica he did not start in the individual jumping, but reached rank 10 in team flying with the team.

In August 2004 he started team jumping as part of the Ski Jumping Grand Prix in Hinterzarten . There he reached rank 13 with the team. The team also achieved the same place in Zakopane . At the beginning of the 2004/05 Continental Cup season there were again no successes and Afanasenko only ended up in the back of the table. At the Winter Universiade 2005 in Innsbruck and Seefeld in Tirol , Afanasenko jumped from the normal hill to 45th place and from the large hill to 44th place. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf in 2005 he again missed the qualification in both individual competitions and reached the Team jumping places 13 on the normal and 15 on the large hill.

In September 2005 Afanasenko started as part of the FIS Cup in Predazzo and won six points with which he finished the FIS Cup 2005/06 as 132nd. He finally ended his active international career without success when he started at the Continental Cup competitions in Rovaniemi and Harrachov in December 2005.
