Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos ( Greek Δημήτρης Ελευθερόπουλος , born August 7, 1976 in Athens ) is a former Greek football goalkeeper .

Career

Club career

Eleftheropoulos played for the Olympiacos U20s until 1994 , before he was finally appointed to the first team in 1994. In the 1995/96 season, however, he was loaned directly to the Greek club Proodeftiki FC before returning to Olympiacos in 1996. Until 2004 Eleftheropoulos played for almost 20 years for the club and played a total of 152 games during this time. In 2004 Eleftheropoulos then signed a contract with the Italian newly promoted FC Messina , where he only played ten games. In the summer of 2005 Eleftheropoulos signed a one-year contract with AC Milan , but he moved to AS Roma in 2006 as a substitute goalkeeper . Eleftheropoulos did not play any games in either Milan or Rome.

For the 2006/07 season, the Greek moved to Serie A club Ascoli Calcio and a year later to AC Siena . Eleftheropoulos ended his career in 2011 with Panionios Athens .

National team

From 1999 to 2001 Eleftheropoulos played a total of twelve games for the Greek national team . In 1999 he made his debut in a friendly against Belgium . In addition to other international matches, he also had three missions in the qualifying round for the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea , for which Greece could not qualify. After Eleftheropoulos fell out with coach Vassilis Daniil , he was no longer appointed to the national team.

Coaching career

Since his active time as a footballer he has worked as a football coach, but he has changed teams after one season at the latest. First he worked at Panionios Athens , where he had also ended his career. In the 2015/16 season he was the coach of Panthrakikos , in the 2016/17 season he coached Asteras Tripoli .
