Dimitrios Farmakopoulos

Dimitrios Farmakopoulos (also transcribed Demetrios Pharmakopoulos , Greek Δημήτριος Φαρμακόπουλος ; * May 22, 1919 in Athens ; † 1996 ibid) was a Greek painter who mainly focused on the future and space in his works.

Farmakopoulos studied painting at the Athens School of Art as a student of Oumbertos Argyros and Konstantinos Parthenis . During World War II he served in the Greek army . After the occupation of Greece , he joined the resistance group EAM .

In 1953 Farmakopoulos went to Brazil . In Rio de Janeiro he studied art history , as well as interior design and stage technology . He later began teaching interior design and painting at technical schools in Brazil. He also got orders for the artistic design of buildings and halls. Farmakopoulos also worked as the artistic director of the Rio Carnival and as a set designer for the Brazilian state television. In 1972 he returned to Greece.

Farmakopoulos, also known as Mimis Farmakopoulos , first took part in an art exhibition in Athens in 1949 . Between 1957 and 1969 he took part in numerous Brazilian art exhibitions. Farmakopoulos was an honorary member of the Communist Party of Greece until his death in 1996 .
