Dirk Maassen (born February 28, 1970 in Herzogenrath ) is a German composer and pianist .

Life

Maassen grew up in Herzogenrath, attended elementary school in the Straß district and, until 1989, the municipal high school . After graduating from high school , he studied general electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University . At the age of ten he received piano and organ lessons . In the 1980s he experimented in the field of electronic music . In the 1990s he went on concert tours with a group of musicians who called themselves "In Contact". With her he produced two CDs . At the same time he was working on a music project called "Unknown Vision". At the end of the 1990s he left the music scene to work in his profession as a software developer .

In 2011 he returned to the music scene as a composer for solo piano music and started his first solo piano tour through Europe in autumn 2016 . He contributed the score to the short film Crossroads (2015) . He had 551,553 monthly listeners on Spotify in March 2020 . Dirk Maassen lives in Ulm . After a two-year collaboration with Cargo Records, Dirk Maassen has been exclusively under contract with Sony Classical since July 2019 .
