Dirrrty Franz and the b-side Boyz are a four-piece German music group . It was formed in early 2005 in the Hessian Taunus . Stylistically, the project can still be assigned to the German Crunk . Texts that thematically exaggerate and ironically deal with the interests of their own generation, such as parties, excessive alcohol consumption, football or the female gender. These were underlaid with Eurodance rhythms that were deliberately kept at a simpler production level . The band achieved brief notoriety in the run-up to the 2006 World Cup with the single World Champion .

In the meantime, the typical sound of the first two releases has largely changed and is currently a variable mixture of crunk , techno , punk / rock , hip-hop , pop and eurodance .

Band history

The band was founded by the music producer and rapper Dirrrty Franz (Patrick Van Hecke) and the musicians Lil 'Joe and Grand Sam . With the name of their project, the three alluded to the American rapper Lil Jon & The East Side Boys. However, Grand Sam left the group before the first release and was replaced by Killa Karl and Jiggy Pot .

In the run-up to the 2006 soccer World Cup in Germany, the single world champion was created in collaboration with the Offenbach producer team Nachtwandler . The production followed the formula of numerous others that came onto the market that year, which were supposed to support the German national football team in the style of fan chants . The single was released in mid-May 2006 on Wahnsinn Records , a sub-label of Kontor Records and Edel Records . It reached number 97 of the German single Top 100 and stayed there for a week.

In February 2007, when Germany was able to win the handball world championship , the band published a modified version of Weltmeister on their homepage , which was offered for download free of charge. At the beginning of March 2007 the band released the self-produced single Idstein Baby , a hymn to their hometown, which is available in the souvenir shop of Idstein . On May 11, 2007, the debut album Celebration the Sound, produced entirely by the Night Walkers, was released on the label Musik für Massen . In the run-up to Christmas 2007, an advent calendar campaign started on December 1st on the band's homepage, during which the band offered an unpublished song for free download every day until Christmas Eve.

At the beginning of the European Football Championship in 2008 , the band's homepage offered the song European Champion as a free download. On June 13, 2008, the successor to Feier den Sound was released , an EP called Sons of the Night , which, with a playing time of around 42 minutes, is almost the length of an album and was released via alkoPOP Entertainment . On the official Eintracht Frankfurt Fan Sampler 12 Vol. II , published on September 28, 2008, the band is represented with a reinterpretation of their song Anpfiff from their debut album Celebration . On December 6th, 2008 the exclusive Christmas CD Gesammelte Weihnachtswerke , limited to 100 copies, was released, which was not available for purchase, but was given away exclusively at selected parties.

The stylistic development of the band reached its peak with the release of the album Freibier on May 8, 2009.

The second album has become musically much more diverse than the 2007 debut. On the one hand, the development is increasingly moving into the electronic field, on the other hand, five songs were recorded in collaboration with the Aspersing-Hosea guitarist Florian Schmidt and borrowed from metal and rock . The sound, which was originally closely based on American crunk , was largely abandoned. The thematic variety has also been expanded compared to the previous publications, although the topics familiar from there continue to be of great importance.

Four years after the release of the single Weltmeister , the band took up the football theme again and, in the run-up to the 2010 World Cup, offered a three-song online single entitled We bring the Cup at the Cape for free download.

At the end of 2012 it was announced that the band had signed a contract with ZYX Music and that they would initially start their older recordings - e. Partly revised and recompiled - to be published again.
