Ditte Kotzian (born March 9, 1979 in Berlin ) is a former German diver .

Career

As a child, Ditte Kotzian began with apparatus gymnastics before jumping into the water. She started for the Berlin TSC and was trained by Jan Kretzschmar . She later studied sports science with a focus on competitive sports / education. She achieved her first successes at the age of 14 at the European Youth Championships in 1993, where she achieved gold on the 1-meter board and a sensational 5th place on the 3-meter board and in diving. In total, Kotzian won 16 medals at the European Youth and Youth World Championships, seven of which were gold.

In 2002 she won in Berlin two European titles in synchronized diving from 3-meter board with Conny Schmalfuß and in synchronous diving with Annett Gamm and silver from the 3-meter board. At the European Championships in 2006 , she won silver from the 1-meter and 3-meter board, as well as silver in synchronized jumping from the 3-meter board with Heike Fischer - a success that both were able to repeat in Eindhoven in 2008 . At the World Championships in 2005 and 2007 , Kotzian also won silver in synchronized jumping from the 3-meter board. She crowned her career at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing by winning the bronze medal in synchronized jumping from the 3-meter board.

For this she received the Silver Laurel Leaf from Federal President Köhler in 2008 .

Ditte Kotzian announced the end of her sporting career in May 2009 in the run-up to the German championships in art and high diving in Aachen. The rather tall water diver with 1.77 m won 30 German championship titles.
