The Dittwarer See was created in 1978 in Dittwar , a district of Tauberbischofsheim , as a local recreation area.

The Dittwarer See is located in the Muckbachtal, which leads from Heckfeld towards Dittwar. The lake is fed with water by the Muckbach , among other things . The water flowing out of the lake reaches the Brehmbach from the right via the Muckback at Dittwar train station , before it flows into the Tauber from the left at Tauberbischofsheim .

It is mainly used by the sport fishing club Dittwar for the purpose of sport fishing.

The Dittwarer See was created in 1978 by the Dittwar sport fishing club.
On Corpus Christi Day , June 21, 1984, heavy rain led to a flood disaster, which also affected the Muckbach, which feeds the lake with water. Dittwar and surrounding communities were affected. There was damage in the high tens of millions.
The Dittwarer Seefest was held in the 1980s and 1990s .
