Dmitri Bondarev ( Russian Дмитрий Дмитриевич Бондарев * 1878 in Rasdorskaja, Rajon Ust-Donezki , † 1937 ) was a Russian car designer.

Life

Bondarew, son of the Cossack Dmitri Onufrijewitsch Bondarew, studied at the Kharkov Technology Institute from 1898 after attending high school . In 1909 he was excluded from studying due to student unrest. Nevertheless, he graduated as a graduate engineer in 1909. He then headed the production of the first Russian automobile Russo-Balt in the Russian-Baltic Wagon Factory (RBWS) .

After the evacuation of the RBWS to Petrograd in World War I in 1915, Bondarew became the first director of the first Russian automobile company, the Moscow Automobile Company (AMO), founded in 1916 by the brothers Sergei , Vladimir and Stepan Pawlowitsch Ryabuschinski and the entrepreneurs Alexander Vasilyevich Kuznetsov and Nikolai Alexandrovich Wtorov . Production was organized in such a way that it could easily be switched to the production of aircraft , especially since Ryabushinski's brother Dmitri had founded the first Russian aerodynamics institute. When the board of directors dismissed the workers after the February revolution in 1917 after several strikes, the workers occupied the factory in May 1917. A group of revolutionary workers drove Bondarev from his office and drove him to the nearest tram station without engaging in conversation .

Bondarew has now returned to his homeland and entered the service of the Cossack ataman Alexei Maximowitsch Kaledin . After the October Revolution he built up the agricultural machinery manufacturer Rostselmasch and became chief engineer on the main board for tractor construction . In 1915 he returned to the Moscow auto plant at the invitation of the director of the former AMO (now SIL) Ivan Alexejewitsch Lichatschow . In 1937 he was arrested and shot. In 1955 he was rehabilitated.
