Dmytro Semenowytsch Kiwa ( Ukrainian Дмитро Семенович Ківа ; born October 8, 1942 Kazan , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian scientist and aircraft designer of the Ukrainian state company Antonov .

Kiwa is a doctor of engineering, professor at the National Technical University of Ukraine “KPI” and since 2006 an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and a member of the Academy of Technical Sciences.

Life

Kiwa graduated from high school in Kharkiv in 1959 and studied at the Mykola Zhukovsky National University of Aerospace until 1965 . From September 1964 he worked at the scientific-technical complex for aviation named after OK Antonov in Kiev . In 1979 he was promoted to deputy chief designer and in 1987 to chief designer. In 2010, after the company's reorganization, he became Antonov's President-General Designer .

Kiwa researched methods to increase the rigidity of metal structures by strengthening the carbon fiber, as well as the properties of composite materials based on carbon fibers.

He is the author of more than 100 scientific publications and holds 13 patents in the development of passenger, cargo and multi-purpose cargo aircraft and was personally involved in the planning and construction of the following aircraft: An-3 , An-28 , An-38 , An-32 , An-74 and their modifications, An-70 , An-124 Ruslan , An-225 Mrija and their modifications, An-140 , An-148 and An-158.
