Do It Like a Dude is a song of the British singer and rapper Jessie J . It was released on November 18, 2010 as a debut single from their debut album Who You Are . It reached number two in the United Kingdom and number eleven in Ireland .

Do It Like a Dude was written by Jessie J, Kyle Abrahams, Peter Abrahams, George Astasio, Jason Pebworth and Jonathan Shave and produced by Parker & James and The Invisible Men. After Jessie J wrote the song, she wanted to record it for Rihanna , but Rihanna wanted Jessie J to record the song as her "middle finger in the industry". Rihanna's Rude Boy inspired Jessie J for the song Do It Like a Dude to be recorded for Rihanna. After that, Jessie sent the song to her music label Island Records before sending it to Rihanna's management. Because of the content of the song, Jessie J didn't want to release Do It Like a Dude as a single, but she was happy in the end.
Commercial win
Do It Like a Dude debuted at number 25 in the UK singles chart on November 28, 2010. After Jessie J won BBC's Sound of 2011 , Do It Like a Dude peaked at number five on January 9, 2011. Then the single hit number five for several weeks two of the UK charts and was kept off the top by Bruno Mars Grenade . To date, the single has sold over 300,000 units in the UK.
In Ireland the single reached number 11.
