The rock cress ( Arabis ciliata ) is a representative of the rock cress ( Arabis ).
description
The Doldige Cress is a perennial , herbaceous plant . It reaches heights of 6 to 30 cm. The leaves have protruding hairs, pressed double hairs are missing. The stem leaves have a rounded or narrowed base.
The sepals are around 2 mm long and often purple at the tip. The petals are 3.5 to 5 mm long and white. Flowering time is May to July, pollination takes place by insects or self-pollination .
The pod is protruding, compressed and 1.6 to 2.2 cm long and 1 to 1.3 mm wide. It sits on a 3 to 5 mm long stem. The fruit valves are flat, slightly bumpy above the seeds, the central vein is weak. The seeds sit in a row, so they protrude to the middle of the septum and form a longitudinal line. The seeds are not winged.
The species has chromosome number 2n = 16.
Occurrence
The Doldige Gänsekresse comes in the Alps before spreading, in the foothills, it is rare. It grows on mats, in subalpine and alpine stone lawns and in fine rock rubble. It occurs preferentially on fresh, calcareous, stony soils in the montane to alpine altitude range . In the Allgäu Alps, it rises on the Great Thumb plateau in Bavaria to an altitude of 2200 meters.
In terms of plant sociology, it is a character species of the order Seslerietalia albicantis.
Their distribution area includes the Pyrenees, the Apennines, the Alps and other mountains in Central Europe and the Balkan Peninsula.
