Dolok Oan

The Dolok Oan , also known under the name Jesus-Backside-Beach ( lit.Beach in the back of Jesus , tetum Cristo Rei Kotuk ) is a beach east of the East Timorese capital Dili . It lies between Cape Fatu Cama in the west and Ponta Fatossídi on the Bay of Fatu Cama ( Strait of Wetar ). The area belongs to the Suco Hera ( administrative office of Cristo Rei , municipality of Dili ). Beyond the narrow Cape Fatu Cama is the city beach Areia Branca .

The beach is called "Jesus-Backside-Beach" because it lies in the back of the monumental Christ statue Cristo Rei , which stands on the Cape Fatu Cama. The name Praia dos Portugueses (beach of the Portuguese) probably comes from the colonial era , while the name Kiwi Beach can be traced back to members of the UN blue helmets in the period after the Indonesian occupation .

Since there are no tourist facilities on the stand, it is considered relatively lonely and unspoiled despite its proximity to the city of Dili, especially in comparison to Areia Branca, on the other side of Cape Fatu Cama, which is the official city beach of the state capital. Both beaches are part of the Important Bird Area and the Areia Branca wildlife sanctuary .
