Domenico Amoroso

Domenico Amoroso SDB (born October 24, 1927 in Messina , † August 18, 1997 in Trapani ) was an Italian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Trapani .

Life

On November 19, 1944, he made his profession as a Salesian of Don Bosco. On 29 June 1954 he received by Coadjutor Bishop Guido Tonetti in the Cathedral of Messina , the ordination . After completing the remaining theological studies at the Pontifical University of the Salesians , he received his doctorate in church history from the Pontifical Gregorian University and specialized in sacramental theology at the Pontifical Lateran University .

From 1963 to 1986 he taught at the theological faculty “San Tommaso” in Messina.

On September 2, 1981 Pope appointed him John Paul II. To the titular of Uthina and auxiliary bishop in Messina . On 24 October 1981 he was awarded by Cardinal Salvatore Pappalardo in the Cathedral of Messina episcopal ordination . He was president of the Episcopal Commission for Liturgy of the Italian Bishops' Conference .

On September 8, 1988, he became Bishop of Trapani . He held this office until his death in August 1997.

His motto was In amore Domini pax (“In the love of God [is] peace”).
