Domenico Mariani
Domenico Cardinal Mariani (born July 3, 1863 in Posta , † April 23, 1939 in Rome ) was Cardinal of the Curia .
Life
He attended the Lyceum Angelo Mai in Rome and later the Pontifical Roman Seminary . He was ordained a priest on December 18, 1886 and was active in pastoral care in the diocese of Rome until 1900 . He was canon of St. Peter's Basilica until 1917. Pope Benedict XV. appointed him on September 30, 1914, His Holiness' s secret chamberlain . He served as secretary of the Cardinals Commission for the Administration of the Property of the Holy See from 1917. The Pope appointed him on January 26, 1917, House Prelate of His Holiness .
Pope Pius XI took him on December 16, 1935 as a cardinal deacon with the title deaconry San Cesareo in Palatio in the college of cardinals . Two days later he was named Prefect Cardinal for the Administration of the Holy See's Property . He participated in the 1939 conclave that Pius XII. chose. At the cemetery Campo di Verano he is buried.
