Dominik Maltritz

Dominik Maltritz (born July 13, 1971 in Sangerhausen ) is a German economist and university professor .

Life

After graduating from the Extended Oberschule in Roßleben in 1990, Maltritz studied physics at the University of Göttingen up to his intermediate diploma in 1994 , followed by a degree in business administration in Göttingen , which he graduated with a diploma in 1999 . From 1999 to 2009 he was a research assistant with Alexander Karmann at the chair for money, credit and currency at the Technical University of Dresden . There he was in 2006 with the work quantification of sovereignty risks with the grade summa cum laude for Dr. rer. pole. PhD. For his dissertation he received the Dr. Feldbausch Prize for the best doctorate in the faculty. The habilitation took place in Dresden in 2010 with the thesis Studies on International Financial Crises and Dependencies between Different Types of Crises Using Option Pricing Theory .

From 2010 to 2015 Maltritz held the professorship for international economics at the Political Science Faculty of the University of Erfurt , which he represented in 2009. Since 2015 he has held the chair for international economics with the now expanded focus on econometrics . He also teaches at the affiliated Willy Brandt School of Public Policy . Since 2012 he has also been a research professor at the Halle Institute for Economic Research .

In May 2018 he signed the appeal The euro must not lead to the liability union! , which was initiated by the economists Dirk Meyer , Thomas Mayer , Gunther Schnabl and Roland Vaubel .

Research priorities

Maltritz's focus lies in the areas of international economics and monetary macroeconomics , in particular on financial crises, determinants of international capital flows and direct investments as well as interest and capital costs and default risks. He also deals with indicators and determinants of economic development and the business cycle, company settlements and location factors. He also examines corporate takeovers, securities valuation and capital flows in developing countries and deals with option price theory.
