Life

As a historian, the author was politicized by the Algerian war and was active until the 1980s a. a. unionized. In 1968 she worked as a teacher at a grammar school, after which she taught in Vincennes . Manotti is a PhD historian.

From 1976 to 1983 she was Secretary General of the Paris section of the CFDT . In the early 80s she was involved in the successful struggle of the Turkish sans papiers in the Paris textile district Sentier, who were fighting for their legalization. Her disappointment with the Mitterrand government made her switch from political engagement to literature.
