Dominique Manotti
Dominique Manotti , pseudonym of Marie-Noëlle Thibault, (born December 24, 1942 in Paris ) is a French novelist and historian. She wrote her first novel at the age of 50. Her crime noir debut " Sombre Sentier " was translated into French crime thriller of the year in 1995 and for the first time in German with the title "Hartes Pflaster". More novels followed: A nos cheveaux! ; Head ; Nos fantastiques années fric ; Le corps noir ; Bien connu des services de police .
Life
As a historian, the author was politicized by the Algerian war and was active until the 1980s a. a. unionized. In 1968 she worked as a teacher at a grammar school, after which she taught in Vincennes . Manotti is a PhD historian.
From 1976 to 1983 she was Secretary General of the Paris section of the CFDT . In the early 80s she was involved in the successful struggle of the Turkish sans papiers in the Paris textile district Sentier, who were fighting for their legalization. Hard pavement plays against the background of the political struggles of the Sans-Papiers there in the Sentier. Politically, she sees herself as a councilor communist; Antonio Gramsci and Rosa Luxemburg play a key role in their analyzes; the reading of James Ellroy contributed not insignificantly to the later literary work. Her disappointment with the Mitterrand government made her switch from political engagement to literature.
