Dominique Nguyên Chu Trinh

Dominique Nguyên Chu Trinh (born May 20, 1940 ) is a Vietnamese clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Xuân Lộc . His name combines western naming tradition ( Dominique as a first name before the family name Nguyên ) with Vietnamese ( Chu Trinh as a personal name is behind the family name).

Life

Nguyen Chu Trinh was born in Phu Nhai, Xuan Truong, Nam Định , Bui Chu Diocese. He studied philosophy and theology at the seminary in Saigon (1960–66). On April 29, 1966, he was ordained a priest for the diocese of Xuân Lộc. Then he was cathedral vicar (1966–1975) and at the same time rector of the Hoa Bing college and vice director of the Diocesan Caritas Center. Since 1978 he was cathedral pastor and episcopal vicar and since 2000 vicar general .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Xuân Lộc on September 30, 2004. The episcopal ordination received his Paul Marie Nguyên Minh Nhat , emeritus Bishop of Xuân Lộc, on 11 November the same year. Co- consecrators were Thomas Nguyên Van Trâm , auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Xuân Lộc, and Joseph Hoàng Van Tiem , bishop of Bùi Chu . His motto is: omnia propter amorem christi

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on May 7, 2016.
