Thomas Nguyên Van Trâm

Thomas Nguyên Van Trâm ( Vietnamese : Tôma Nguyễn Văn Trâm ; born January 9, 1942 in Bình Tuy ) is a Vietnamese clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Bà Rịa .

Life

Thomas Nguyên Van Trâm was ordained a priest on May 1, 1969 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 6, 1992 auxiliary bishop in Xuân Lộc and titular bishop of Hilta . The episcopal ordination donated him the bishop of Xuân Lộc, Paul Marie Nguyên Minh Nhât , on May 7th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Paul Nguyên Van Hòa , Bishop of Nha Trang , and Nicolas Huynh Van Nghi , Former Bishop of Phan Thiết . He chose Hiền Lành và Khiêm Nhường ( Meek and humble , Mt 11.29  EU ) as his motto .

On November 22, 2005 he was appointed the first bishop of the Bà Rịa diocese , which was established on the same date , and was appointed to the office on December 5 of the same year. Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on May 6, 2017.

Notwithstanding his resignation, he was Apostolic Administrator of the vacant Diocese of Phan Thiết from March 14, 2017 to December 12, 2019 .
