Emmanuel Nguyễn Hồng Sơn

Emmanuel Nguyễn Hồng Sơn (born January 2, 1952 in Biên Hòa , Đồng Nai Province , Vietnam ) is a Vietnamese clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Bà Rịa .

Life

His name combines western naming tradition ( Emmanuel as first name before the family name Nguyễn ) with Vietnamese ( Hồng Sơn as a personal name is behind the family name).

Emmanuel Nguyễn Hồng Sơn received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Xuân Lộc on December 31, 1980 . In 2005 he was incardinated in the clergy of the Bà Rịa diocese .

On 27 November 2015 it appointed Pope Francis to Coadjutor Bishop of Ba Ria. The Bishop of Bà Rịa, Thomas Nguyên Van Trâm , donated him episcopal ordination on January 20, 2016 ; Co- consecrators were the bishop of Cần Thơ , Stephanus Tri Buu Thien , and the bishop of Thanh Hóa , Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh .

With the age-related resignation of Thomas Nguyên Van Trâms on May 6, 2017, he succeeded him as Bishop of Bà Rịa.
