Joseph Hoàng Van Tiem

Giuse ( Ger . Joseph ) Hoàng Văn Tiệm SDB (born September 12, 1938 in Hai Son ; † August 17, 2013 ) was bishop of Bùi Chu . His name combines western naming tradition ( Joseph as first name before the family name Hoàng ) with Vietnamese ( Văn Tiệm as a personal name is behind the family name).

Life

Joseph Hoàng Van Tiem joined the order of the Salesians of Don Bosco and studied philosophy in Hong Kong and theology at the International Institute of Salesians for Philosophical and Theological Studies in Cremisan Monastery in Bait Jala . He was ordained a priest on April 19, 1973 . He was a professor of moral theology at the Institute of the Salesians in Da Lat , from 1995 at the seminary of Hanoi .

Pope John Paul II appointed him bishop of Bùi Chu on July 4, 2001 . The Archbishop of Hanoi , Paul Joseph Cardinal Phạm Đình Tụng , consecrated him on August 8 of the same year as bishop ; Co- consecrators were François Xavier Nguyên Van Sang , Bishop of Thái Bình , and Joseph Nguyên Van Yên , Bishop of Phát Diêm .
