Domsten is a former fishing village in the southern Swedish province of Skåne län and the historic province of Skåne . The place is on the Öresund approx. 12 km north of the city of Helsingborg
history
The place name was first mentioned in 1575. Bricks for the construction of Kronborg Castle in Helsingör were shipped in "Dompsthenen". Traces of Stone Age settlement have also been found in the area. In 1711 the plague raged in Domsten and the surrounding area. You can still see the plague cemetery on Bygatan street today. In the 19th century, fishing developed as an important source of income. The first summer houses were built in the last century. The municipality has now become a popular place to live near the city of Helsingborg. The number of residents has roughly doubled since 1970.

The place extends along the coast between the beach and the hill chain Landborgen . The 30 m wide beach is cleaned daily. The development follows the main street Bygatan, which runs parallel to the coast in a north-south direction. There is a marina in the center. There are holiday homes and a campsite. In the north and south of the village there are nature reserves with pine and deciduous tree forests as well as shrub growth.
Famous people
The Swedish comedian and director Nils Poppe lived in Domsten from 1968 until his death in 2000. The artist and designer Stig Lindberg had his summer house and studio in Domsten from 1959 until his death in 1982.
