The Don Bosco House is the Catholic parish hall in Hondelage , a district of Braunschweig . It belongs to the parish of St. Marien with its seat in the Querum district , in the Braunschweig deanery of the Hildesheim diocese . The house named after Saint Johannes Bosco is located at Hegerdorfstrasse 46.

history

On April 13, 1986, the Don Bosco House was inaugurated by former Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen . It was created by converting a former branch of the Haake-Beck brewery . Before that, Catholic services were held in the hall of an inn in Hondelage before the Catholic community was allowed to use the Protestant St. John's Church in Hondelage for evening masses for several years. Initially, the Don Bosco House belonged to the parish of St. Martin in Wendhausen .

On November 1, 2006, the parish of St. Martin was abolished and joined the parish of St. Marien , since then the Don-Bosco-Haus has also belonged to the parish of St. Marien .

Equipment and use

In the parish hall there is the chapel “St. Don Bosco ”, it is the youngest Catholic church in Braunschweig and has 48 seats. The community hall is located between the chapel and the kindergarten and can be opened to the chapel through a sliding wall. In the house there is also the group room of the Georgs-pathfinder Sankt Martin e. V.

In addition, the kindergarten of the non-denominational parents' initiative Kind in Hondelage eV is located in the Don-Bosco-Haus , in which 29 children between the ages of two and six are cared for in the two groups The little rascals and Schunterzwerge .
