Don Aliquo

Don Aliquo, Jr. (* 1960 in Pittsburgh ) is an American jazz - saxophonist (tenor and baritone saxophone), high school teacher and band leader .

Aliquo grew up in a musical family in the suburbs of Pittsburgh; his father is the tenor saxophonist Don Aliquo, Sr., who is well known in the regional jazz scene. Aliquo Junior played early in his career in his hometown with drummer Roger Humphries . He was then a member of the Tommy Dorsey Band ( Ghost Band ), briefly as a baritone saxophonist with Buddy Rich , then in the Keystone Rhythm Band and Roger Humphries' band RH Factor . He first studied music education at Duquesne University in Nashville , Tennessee , with George Garzone and Eric Kloss , among others , at Berklee College of Music, and obtained a Master of Arts degree . From 1999 he worked as a university lecturer at the nearby Middle Tennessee State University , where he set up a jazz course with the pianist Dana Landry, which he heads. In 2002 his debut album Another Reply was released . In Nashville he worked a. a. with musicians like Gary Burton , Greg Osby , Rufus Reid , Pete Christlieb , Scott Robinson and Marvin Stamm .
