Don C. DeJongh

Don C. DeJongh (born May 10, 1937 in Burnips (Michigan) , † July 23, 2011 in Palo Alto ) was an American chemist ( organic chemistry ).

Life

DeJongh graduated from Hope College with a bachelor's degree in 1959 and the University of Michigan with a master's degree in 1961 and a PhD in 1963. He was a post-doctoral student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology . In 1963 he became an assistant professor and later professor at Wayne State University . 1972 to 1978 he was a professor at the University of Montreal . From 1978 he was President of the Finnigan Institute in Cincinnati, which gave courses in mass spectrometry and chromatography. He later lived in Palo Alto. He dealt with applications of mass spectrometry in chemistry, biology and environmental science.

In 1967 he received a research grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation ( Sloan Research Fellowship ). He was a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science .
