Donat Müller (composer)

Donat Müller (born January 2, 1804 in Biburg (Diedorf) , † May 10, 1879 in Augsburg ) was a German organist , music teacher , music director , composer , editor and publisher . Over 400 works are attributed to him.

Life

After the death of his father, who was a heating warden, Donat Müller became a member of the Augsburger Domsingknaben from autumn 1813 and was supported by the cathedral music director Franz Bühler , who gave him lessons in singing and composition. He also made it possible for twelve-year-old Donat Müller to attend grammar school at St. Anna by 1816 at the latest .

In later years he was u. a. Regenschori of St. Ulrich in Augsburg.

In 1849 he founded the first public "singing school" in Augsburg.

His son was the future composer Otto Müller (1837-1920), whom he gave his first music lessons.

The musical postilion

As an editor, he published the music journal Der musical Postillion weekly from January 2, 1841 , which was published by the Lampert & Co. publishing house in Augsburg. During the one-year publication period, he gave important information as follows.

In 1841 the publisher offered to purchase an original manuscript from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and describe the composition there .

Adaptation to Giuseppe Tartini

Giuseppe Tartini experienced a literary adaptation through the novel “Giuseppe Tartini” written by the writer Augusta Carolina Wenrich . The novella was published in sequels from February 13, 1841 to March 20, 1841.
