Donato Carrisi
Donato Carrisi (born March 25, 1973 in Martina Franca ) is an Italian writer , screenwriter and film director .
life and work
Donato Carrisi was born and raised in Martina Franca. After completing school, he studied law in Rome , specializing in criminology and behavioral research, and completed his studies with a thesis on the Italian serial killer Luigi Chiatti, also known as the monster of Foligno . The preoccupation with serial killers and an encounter with Chiatti later inspired him to write his first thriller Il suggeritore . After completing his studies, however, he initially worked as a lawyer for a short time before finally turning to his writing and writing various scripts for film and television.
Already with his first novel suggeritore Il , a thriller , in 2010 under the German title The Death Whisperer in Piper Verlag appeared to him the international breakthrough. His debut novel was awarded the prestigious Premio Bancarella in Italy in 2009 , was on the Spiegel bestseller list in Germany for weeks and has been translated into more than 20 languages, including Hebrew and Vietnamese.
For his novel L'ipotesi del male , which was published under the German title Die Totenjägerin , he received the Premio Giorgio Scerbanenco in 2013 .
His novel The Girl nella nebbia , the 2017 German translation under the title The fog man in Atrium Verlag appeared was in 2017 with Toni Servillo and Jean Reno in the lead roles filmed . Carrisi also made his directorial debut with this film.
Donato Carrisi lives and works as a freelance writer and screenwriter in Rome and also writes columns for the Corriere della Sera .
