Life

Magerl works as an energy electronics technician in Bavaria. After being a member of the SPD for many years , he joined the Bavarian AfD .

In the Bavarian state elections in 2018 , he ran as a constituency member in the electoral district Weiden in the Upper Palatinate and on list number 1 of the AfD in the constituency of Upper Palatinate . He moved into the Bavarian state parliament as a member of parliament.

Controversy

On July 7, 2018, Magerl wore a T-shirt from the right-wing extremist Ansgar Aryan brand with an eagle printed on the back and the words "Patriotic Ink" at an AfD event . The Bayerische Rundfunk then attested him Connections "by right-winger," the right-wing expert January Nowak spoke of a "clear commitment". According to Magerl, he wanted to oppose counter-demonstrators with Fuck Nazis T-shirts and therefore deliberately ordered a shirt with the “Patriot” print. At that time, however, he did not know that the managing director of the right-wing extremist fashion company was NPD man Patrick Schröder , who, like Magerl, lives in the Upper Palatinate coat .

Magerl's father-in-law Johann Reichl gave a speech in 2018 in Magerl's presence at an AfD regulars' table, in which he described the politician of the Greens Claudia Roth as a “fat toad” and a “lousy piece of shit”. He also talked about a “people's IQ”, which he believed to be 85 in Turkey and 67 in Africa, and called political opponents “creatures and worms”. Magerl did not intervene. He later stated that his father-in-law had nothing against foreigners.

At the state party conference of the AfD 2019 in Greding, Bavaria, Magerl described journalists as "rats". A few minutes after the statement, he went to the microphone again and apologized to the delegates for the term. When asked by the AFP news agency, Magerl said he said the word out of emotion and acted in an affect.
