Donburi
Donburi ( Japanese 丼 ) is a meal in Japanese cuisine in which rice is filled into a bowl and this is then covered with other ingredients - mostly meat.
Variations include, among others:
- Butadon or Tondon (with pork )
- Gyūdon (with beef )
- Ikuradon (with salmon - roe )
- Karēdon (with thickened dashi flavoredwith curry ( Karē ))
- Katsudon (with breaded pork chop )
- Mabodon (with mapo tofu )
- Magurodon (with tuna )
- Oyakodon (with eggs and chicken )
- Tamagodon (with eggs)
- Tendon (with tempura )
- Teriyakidon (with beef or chicken in teriyaki sauce)
- Unadon (with eel )
- Yakitoridon (with Yakitori )
The name of most of the dishes comes from the combination of the "topping" and the abbreviation for Donburi, "don".
