Azra Kolaković

Azra Kolaković (born January 1, 1977 in Bihać ; † October 2, 2017 there ), stage name Donna Ares , was a Bosnian turbo-folk singer . It was popular in the Western Balkans .

Life

Both parents were musicians. Her mother gave piano lessons at a music school and her father was a former pop-rock guitarist.

As a child she performed at children's festivals and from the age of 14 she was part of the rock group "Camino Verde" as a singer, which played in local discos. At the age of 16 she wrote her first lyrics and recorded her first song. She graduated from a music school and studied English.

After a long period of weight loss and fatigue, Kolaković was diagnosed with uterine cancer in October 2014 . She was transferred to a hospital in Sarajevo for treatment . She died of cancer on October 2, 2017 in her hometown of Bihać.

Discography

In 1997 she appeared for the first time under her stage name Donna Ares . In the same year she had great success at the Bihać Festival in Bosnia with her song Kazna ( Punishment ). In 1998 she recorded her first album Ti me više ne voliš (You don't love me anymore) in the Sunny Studio in Duisburg .

After two years the album Donna Live 2000 appeared , on which she covered old folk hits. This album also features evergreens like Woman in love or I'm so excited . In 2003, Donna Mix III was released , again with covers of popular folk songs such as Moj dilbere and Bilo Cija , but also a new song Pjesmo Moja . There is also a duet with Kemal Malovčić on this album .

In 1999 she wrote the lyrics for the duet Sviraj nešto narodno with Halid Bešlić .
