Donna Faber's professional career began in March 1987 in Charleston with a first round loss to Patricia Tarabini . She achieved her greatest successes in 1989 when she reached the round of 16 at the Australian Open and the French Open . In 1990 Faber was again in the round of 16 at the Australian Open . In the same year she was defeated by Veronika Martinek in the final of the WTA tournament in São Paulo . In 1992 she lost the final of the WTA tournament in Wellington against Noëlle van Lottum . She played her last professional match in June 1996 when she failed (again in the USA) at the tournament in Hilton Head Island in the qualification.
