Donna Morein (* in Philadelphia ) is an American mezzo-soprano who has worked on European stages since 1981. She is the winner of the Toti dal Monte competition in Treviso and the Luciano Pavarotti competition.

life and work

Donna Morein completed her vocal studies with Klara Meyers , Martin Rich and Christa Ludwig . Her debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago was followed by engagements at the New York City Opera , New Jersey State Opera and permanent engagements at the Zurich Opera House (1981/82), the State Theater am Gärtnerplatz (1983–1986), and the Braunschweig State Theater (1986–1989 ), at the Städtische Bühnen Augsburg (1992–1997) and at the Städtische Theatern Chemnitz (1997–2007). She has made guest appearances at well-known opera houses at home and abroad. She has worked successfully with conductors such as Leopold Hager , Ferdinand Leitner , Nello Santi , Georg Schmöhe and Stefan Soltesz . Directors such as Brigitte Fassbaender , John Dew , Joachim Herz , Jaroslav Chundela , Peter Baumgardt , Hellmuth Matiasek and August Everding appreciated Donna Morein as an opera singer and at the same time a music theater actress.
