from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2011 Canoe Slalom World Championship took place from September 7th to 11th, 2011 in Bratislava , Slovakia . The world championship is organized by the International Canoeing Federation (ICF). Bratislava is hosting a canoe slalom world championship for the first time. The competitions will be held in the Canoe Park "Areál Divoká Voda Bratislava-Čunovo". It is 340 m long and has a height difference of 6.6 m.

A total of ten competitions were held, for the men an individual and a team decision in a single kayak K-1, single canoe C-1 and two-person canoe C-2 and for women an individual and team decision in a single kayak K-1 and in the single canoe C-1. The team competition in the women's C-1 was for the first time an official competition of a world championship. However, no team medals were awarded in the women's C1 because the required minimum number of participants (6 teams) was not reached. There were initially problems with the weather conditions. Due to strong winds, the first two days of the competition had to be canceled, but the program could finally be carried out on the last three days of the competition.

The world championship was the main qualifying competition for the canoe slalom competitions of the 2012 Summer Olympics . The majority of all quota places were allocated here.
