Sideris Tasiadis (born May 7, 1990 in Augsburg ) is a German canoeist .

Life

Tasiadis was born in Augsburg in 1990 and grew up in the city. His parents come from Komara near Orestiada in northeast Greece . He started in 2000 with the canoe slalom at the Augsburg kayak club and is now starting for Kanu Schwaben Augsburg , the canoeing department of TSV Schwaben Augsburg . Tasiadis is training to become a law enforcement officer in the sports promotion group of the Bavarian Police.

In 2012, Tasiadis was able to prevail against the national competition and qualified in the single canoe for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London , where he won the silver medal. He lived with his girlfriend, the canoeist Claudia Bär , in Augsburg until she died from cancer in 2015.

In 2013 he achieved overall victory in the World Cup category C1 for the first time.

In 2016 he was able to qualify again for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. There he reached the 5th place after the best time in qualification and semi-finals.

At the 2018 World Championships, Tasiadis won the bronze medal in the single canoe (C1).
