The Augsburg Kayak Association ( AKV for short ) is a successful canoeing club from Augsburg . The club's athletes have won numerous national and international titles in canoe slalom .

history

The Augsburg Kayak Association was founded on November 5, 1924. The club became particularly important at the beginning of the 1970s, when Augsburg also received the federal center for canoe slalom and white water through the construction of the ice canal for the 1972 Summer Olympics , which has also had the status of an Olympic base since 1992 . Like the second successful Augsburg club in canoeing , Kanu Schwaben Augsburg (a division of TSV Schwaben Augsburg ), the AKV has a boathouse on the ice canal. In addition, the two clubs jointly set up the Augsburg Canoe Museum in 2003 .
