Donnerkopf was a German hard rock and metal band from Hanover . The band name is the German translation of Thunderhead , a German band in which the former drummer Alex Scotti, bassist Ole Hempelmann and singer and guitarist Henny Wolter were active.

history

The former Thunderhead members Hempelmann and Wolter founded the band Donnerkopf four years after the end of Thunderhead together with Curt Doernberg (ex- Rough Silk , brother of Ferdy Doernberg ). Doernberg got out, however, and tried his hand at the new German hardship band Treibhaus . He was initially replaced by Alex Scotti, another former Thunderhead band member. But Scotti wasn't in the band for long either and was replaced by Klaus Sperling . In 2005 the band released the album Krachmaschine on the record company Teuton Records in the distribution of Soulfood . Then the group broke up again.

Wolter and Sperling founded the band Nitrogods in 2011 together with Claus "Oimel" Larcher .

style

Even if the band ties in with the previous band in terms of personnel and the band name, musically, apart from Wolter's guitar playing, they had little in common with Thunderhead. The music is more in the hard rock / rock area, with a slight punk touch. The lyrics are in German , very direct and deal with typical rock topics such as sex and rebellion against the “broad masses”. The band was compared with The Almighty and Motörhead , among others, and Doc Eisenhauer and Jürgen Zeltinger from the German-speaking area .
