A total of 15 programs were produced, the last show ran on Saturday evening at 8.15 p.m. before the Grand Prix Eurovision 1988 . Showmaster Jürgen von der Lippe presented this very successful entertainment program, which had up to 15 million viewers, which corresponded to an audience rate of 48%. The rather rough games were partly taken over from the English game show Game for a Laugh .
content
The program of the show consisted of games with individual viewers from the studio. The gag was that the player didn't know a fact of the game. Such was a common announcement from von der Lippe after the contestant left the studio for the start of the game: "What he / she doesn't know ..." . So the game could be designed in such a way that he could not win from the start or he unknowingly met a relative / acquaintance (husband, wife, boss, etc.) who had been initiated into the game and whom he "harmed" unnoticed by the game. Often the characters “Dr. Klinker-Emden "(shown by Frank Schmidt (1949–2012)) and" Chappy, the executor "(shown by Andreas Kovac-Zemen ). The viewers in the studio could guess a “celebrity in a poke” in every episode.
In 1988, excerpts filmed with a hidden camera were also shown.
criticism
The program was initially received rather cautiously by the critics. At the end of 1986, the Hörzu wrote :
“Whether baking cakes on the treadmill or dancing on the tightrope - the teammates usually already have an inkling of what's coming: A close relative has been smuggled into the actors. No, what a surprise! So that you can laugh more at Jürgen von der Lippe, he urgently needs nonsense suppliers. "
Der Spiegel found the “deliberately stupid jokes” of the pilot program a “non-stop series of follies”, in which Lippe “effortlessly undercuts every level in the greasy, humorous manner of a fairground conferencier”, the Frankfurter Rundschau saw the “charm of the provincial”, The World a "joy of the kind that has been practiced for centuries by the fair, circus and television".
