Eschollbrücken (in the local dialect: Eschollbrigge) is a district of Pfungstadt in the southern Hessian district of Darmstadt-Dieburg with around 3000 inhabitants. The district is divided into the place Eschollbrücken and the district Eich .
Geographical location
Eschollbrücken lies to the west of the Pfungstädter core city, in between runs the federal highway 67. In the south the district Hahn joins.
The landscape of Eschollbrücken is just before the Hessian Ried , part of the Upper Rhine Plain . Some ditches that once served to drain the Hessian Ried, but now only occasionally carry water, meander through the landscape. The Sandbach , a tributary of the Modau , which flows into the Altrhein at the Kühkopf nature reserve , flows through the fields north of the village.
The eastern border of the built-up area is formed by a forest already on Pfungstädter district.
history
A late Neolithic copper battle ax is called the Escholl Bridge type. Eschollbrücken was first mentioned in 1122, the district of Eich in 1335. Under changed place names such as Eschilbruccun , Esselbrukken and Eschelbroicken

»Eschollbrücken (L. Bez. Bensheim) Lutheran parish village; is 3 1 / 2 St. of Bensheim, has 73 houses and 530 inh., which are up to 13 Jews Lutheran. There are peat cuttings in the district. The Counts of Katzenellenbogen from Würzburg were enfeoffed with this village. A noble family named itself after the same, of which Rupert von Eschollbrücken appears in a Lorsch document from 1222. The parish church had two altars. "
