Hahn (in the local dialect: Hoh ) is a district of the city of Pfungstadt in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district in southern Hesse .

geography

Peace oak from 1876, today a natural monument

Hahn is located south of the also incorporated districts of Eschollbrücken and Eich and west of the center of Pfungstadt.

The landscape of Hahn is in the Hessian Ried , part of the Upper Rhine Plain . A few ditches that once served to drain the Hessian Ried, but now only occasionally carry water, meander through the landscape. The southern border of the local development is the Modau. The brewery grove was created to mark the founding anniversary of the Pfungstädter Brewery and reminds us that Hahn was the cradle of the Pfungstädter art of brewing: the inn "Zum Hirschen" in today's Gernsheimer Straße.

history

Hahn was first mentioned in 1208 when Heinrich von Dieburg , his wife and sister Jutta gave goods to the Eberbach monastery in Hahn.

Other mentions:

  • In 1354 Schenk Eberhard von Erbach held the Gülde von Hahn as part of the Wittum of the late Agnes von Katzenelnbogen .
  • In the 14th century, the Erbach taverns owned Hahn.
  • Before 1484, Hans Walborn listed the village as the Henchin under the fiefs that he received from Konrad von Frankenstein as heir to his ancestors .
  • In 1571 the Landgrave of Hesse was entitled to the village of Hain .

Little is known about Hahn's origins. In old documents, the place is given different forms of name: Hagen , Hein , Hayn , Hain and Hahn . These name forms come from the old German word "hagen" and from the middle German "hagen, Hagin". Contracted means grove , hein thorn bush, wood . The name of the nearby chicken has the same origin as other parts of the city in the vicinity.

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Hahn in 1829:

»Hahn (L. Bez. Bensheim) Lutheran parish village; 3 1 / 4 located St. of Bensheim, close to the Modaubachs, has 84 houses and 667 inh., Up to 5 Kath. Jews and 10 are Lutheran. - Eustachius von Frankenstein, who had a share in the village, expanded the chapel that had been donated by Frau Hildegard von Sachsenhausen in 1335. At that time the place is said to have only consisted of three parishioners. As early as 1647, or after the Frankenstein estate was bought, this church was given to the chaplain in Pfungstadt as a special parish because of its proximity. "

Territorial history and administration

The following list gives an overview of the territories in which Hahn was located and the administrative units to which it was subordinate:

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse on July 1, 1972, the community of Hahn was incorporated into Pfungstadt at its own request. A local district with a local advisory council and local councilor was formed for Hahn according to the Hessian municipal code.

dishes

Hahn belonged to the center of Pfungstadt whose tasks were carried out from around 1800 by the Pfungstadt office. In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt, the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Darmstadt” was set up as a court of second instance for the Principality of Starkenburg . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or the landlords . The Pfungstadt Office was responsible for Hahn. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate . The main courts had lost their function.

With the formation of the regional courts in the Grand Duchy of Hesse, the Zwingenberg regional court was the court of first instance from 1821 . It followed:

School history

In 1590 a certain Peter Bender founded the first school in the village, but it disappeared again after 1600. Regular classes have been taking place in Hahn since 1653. The tithe barn, built in 1794, served as a school between 1833 and 2006. The first all-day primary school in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district was established in 2006 on Wilhelm-Weingärtner-Strasse.

coat of arms

Coat of arms of Hahn

The coat of arms was approved on May 10, 1972 by the Hessian Ministry of the Interior.

Blazon : "In gold, a red cross with wide margins on a red bowed sheet."

The COURT SIGEL IN HAN PF 1623 and a more recent seal from the early 19th century (seal stamp owned by the municipality) bring this image to the shield. The latter with the inscription: GH BÜRGERMEISTEREI HAHN KB (= Bensheim district), in the place belonging to the center of Pfungstadt ("PF"), a placemark is more likely than a church symbol.

The coat of arms comes from a seal image from 1623, but could also be older. The colors go back to the coat of arms of the von Frankenstein family.

The design of the coat of arms was in the hands of the Bad Nauheim heraldist Heinz Ritt .

An official flag was never approved. There is, however, an unofficial flag that shows the municipality's coat of arms on a green, white and green flag.
