Wrap (inflorescence)

A wrap is a certain form of inflorescence ( Cincinnus ). Below the terminal flower of the main axis there is only one secondary axis, closed off by a flower, which continues to drive a secondary axis with a flower again alternately to the right and left. The wraps can be found, for example, with tomatoes or forget-me-nots (e.g. Myosotis sylvatica ).

The wrap is derived from the dichasium in that only one is formed instead of two side branches. If the side branch is always on the same side, it is called a screw .

A variant is the double wrap . This has the first branch on both sides of the main axis and further like a simple winding.
