Dora Czell (born February 27, 1947 in Innsbruck , Tyrol ) is an Austrian painter and art teacher.

Life

Dora Czell, born in Innsbruck, spent her childhood in Scheffau / Kufstein. In 1964 she graduated from the art teacher Herbert Danler in Landeck . Between 1969 and 1973 he studied art education and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Franz Elsner and Anton Lehmden (1971 teaching qualification, 1972 diploma in painting). From Lehmden, a main representative of the Viennese School of Fantastic Realism , Czell appropriated the old master's style of painting and his preference for lyrical landscape painting. From this she developed into an independent Tyrolean artistic personality, who is mainly inspired by the Tyrolean and Italian landscapes. From 1974 Dora Czell worked as an art teacher at the grammar school in Imst , followed by eleven years at the BORG in Innsbruck.

In 1975 she married the painter Manfred Wagner and gave birth to her son. In 1991 she returned from Innsbruck to Imst. Between 1995 and 2008 she lived in Karres, after which she moved to Oetz . In 2005 she appeared as a founding member of the IGNEA artist group. In 2008 her former husband Manfred Wagner died.

After the State of Austria had already bought a work from her in 1978, another work, “Untitled”, was purchased in 1985 for a price of ATS 8,000. The Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum acquired "Tschirgant" (1975), "Marterl" (1985), "Freund Nino" (1986) and "I and you in Navis" (1990) from her.

Her painting “Distelfrau” was stolen in 2008/2009 and put out to public search.
