The village church Biederitz is the Protestant church in Biederitz ( Saxony-Anhalt ). The name Evangelical Church Biederitz is common in and around the town .

history

After the first late Romanesque church from the 13th century was destroyed during the Thirty Years War , the successor building was not built until 1730, which was designed as a single-nave hall. The still existing Romanesque quarry stone foundation was used for the west tower, while the bell storey was built in the half-timbered style and finished off with a transverse alpine roof. The baroque interior from 1730 is still there today.

In 1989 the church was extensively renovated, giving the church its present-day appearance. In 2008 the tower was restored.

The church belongs to the parish of Biederitz, which is assigned to the Evangelical Church District Elbe - Fläming . The responsible pastor is Johannes Henke (as of 2011).

The Evangelical Church in Biederitz is one of the venues for the Biederitz Music Summer .

organ

The current organ of the Biederitz village church is a Ladegast organ , it has been on the west gallery since 1997. The organ was originally built for the church in Plennschütz near Weißenfels in 1866.
