The Breitenheerda village church is located in the Breitenheerda district of the city of Rudolstadt in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

history

The neo-Romanesque middle of the cemetery standing church was built on the foundations of a previous medieval building from 1895 to 1897 with stones from the east adjacent quarry built in Tännichberg.

The single-nave church building has a square tower with a tent roof and a round arched portal on the west side . The nave was equipped with tombstones belonging to the Schönefeld family.

Water damage and dry rot infestation the church in came DDR -time into disrepair.

After the fall of the Wall , the costly renovation began .
