Church in Goldebee

The village church Goldebee is an Evangelical Lutheran church building in Goldebee , a district of the municipality of Benz in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). It belongs to the parish of Hornstorf in the Wismar provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church District Mecklenburg of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

History and architecture

The village church Goldebee was built at the beginning of the 15th century in the brick Gothic style. A polygonal choir connects seamlessly to the east of the three-bay hall . The walls are divided by buttresses and two-part windows, the east window is four-part. The portal in the tower is ogival. In the interior, ribbed vaults were drawn in, the north sacristy has a flat roof. The small south porch was added at the end of the 19th century. The two windows with coats of arms are framed by Art Nouveau ornaments. The west tower, placed in front of it in the classical style in 1848, looks atypical for Mecklenburg conditions and never wore a helmet . It was built to cover an older wooden tower. Rather, it was crowned by several iron crosses in the 19th century, which gave it an "impression of strangeness". The building stands in the middle of a cemetery, which is accessed through a pointed arched passage from the 15th century. The passage and the pedestrian gate are pointed arches.

Furnishing

  • The baroque altarpiece dates from 1712 and has an architectural wooden structure. It is sparsely decorated and equipped with allegorical figures. The paintings show the Lord's Supper, the Crucifixion and the Entombment.
  • The old granite funnel with a brass insert from around 1300 is remarkable .
  • The simple pulpit was built in around 1666.
  • The organ is a work by Wolfgang Nußbücker from 1990 with six registers on a manual and pedal .
  • The bronze bell was cast in 1491.
